TOUJOURS
CREATED WITH A GRANT AWARDED TO MARA GALEAZZI
Toujours was choreographed by former Royal Ballet Principal Mara Galeazzi and premiered at ‘Étoiles of Paris Opera Ballet and Friends’ at Hatch House, in July 2023. Galeazzi created the work over a two year period, finally being able to perform the piece with renowned international artist Jason Kittelberger in 2023.
This very personal and special work was originally started just before the pandemic but due to the enforced limitations of Covid restrictions, further progress was impossible. Mara dedicated Toujours to her late father who died early in the pandemic - the many lifts in the piece representing the support her father gave her throughout her life, with the highly emotional final section of the work symbolising the grief of the paternal loss.
Galeazzi and Kittleberger's beautiful and perfect performance set to the music composed by Galeazzi's friend Domenico Clapasson, captivated the audiences who have had the privilege of seeing it.
The piece is due to be performed again as part of the ‘Iconique’ dinner gala programme, which is being held in The Bahamas at the beautiful Old Fort Bay Club on the 14th & 16th February 2024, and will continue to be enjoyed by audiences around the world.
“I really want to thank so much TDBF for all the wonderful support received and not just for me but for the artists that needed to have opportunities. It was super special because we started the creation before covid and the piece was the memories off a loss. The music by my very best friend was very special.
Thank you 🙏 “
